About Us

Disk Depot is a competitive web store specialising in the sale of blank media and other computer consumables. We offer a fast and professional service to all our customers.

The reason we have grown so quickly is because we listen to our customers and value their opinion. If you have any questions, comments or complaints then we are happy to listen. Please send an email via our contact form.

Making A Purchase

The process of buying products through our website has been made as simple as possible. This allows us to provide a fast and efficient service to all our customers. Simply browse our catalogue and click "Buy Now" when you’d like to purchase an item. Once you have selected all your items, click on "Checkout" where you will be taken to the payment and address screen. If at any time you’d like to amend your shopping cart, click on "View Cart". Here you will be able to change quantities or remove items from your shopping cart.

Accuracy is important to us and we try our utmost to ensure every product on our website is in stock. Inevitably sometimes we do run out of stock. If this happens we will remove the item from sale on our website or mark it as "awaiting stock". If you have placed an order for an item which is out of stock, you will be give the opportunity to wait for the item to arrive back in stock, cancel the order or change the out of stock item for an alternative item of equivalent value.

While we try and make sure every product is accurate on our website, images and descriptions are for illustrative purposes only. Media code (AKA "ADVDINFO") information is provided as a guide only and although we check new stock as they arrive, we cannot be held responsible if you are sent disks where the media code information does not match the description on our website. This is because we do not manufacture the disks ourselves and have no control over mixed batches.

All orders must be placed through our website. We are unable to take orders via telephone or post. You may only place orders and make communications with us in English, and all contracts concluded between us will be in English.

Payment

All prices are inclusive of VAT but exclusive of delivery. By default, prices are shown in United Kingdom Pounds (GBP) Sterling and will be billed in this currency, even if you choose to display the approximate equivalent in another currency (such as Euros). If your credit card company operates in a different currency, your credit card company will convert payment from GBP. All prices and offers are subject to change and availability. The purchaser is liable for any local country taxes should these arise.

We accept various methods of payment for your convenience. We accept all major credit and debit cards such as Visa Credit, Visa Debit, Solo, Electron, Mastercard, Maestro, etc. We also accept payments by Paypal and Nochex.

Debit and Credit card payments are handled securely by Sage Pay. This is done via their secure server and we never see your full credit card details for your security. To date we have no knowledge of any credit card fraud using our system.

All payment methods are automatically debited at the time of purchase.

Shipping and Handling

One of the main reasons we have grown so quickly is due to our fast and efficient delivery service. Most orders received before 2.00PM are shipped the same day, and standard courier orders will normally be delivered the next working day (although this is not guaranteed).

Once your order has been dispatched we always email you the tracking number (if you have chosen a tracked delivery service). We also have an order tracking section integrated into our website where you enter your order number and you can track the whole delivery process.

Shipping is calculated automatically by the website. During the checkout procedure you will be presented with the options relevant to your order. We use a variety of couriers to allow you to customise the delivery process as much as possible and to offer the best value for money.

If you have chosen a courier to deliver your order they will normally make 2 attempts at delivery if you are not in. Each time they will leave a card to notify you they have made an attempt. After the last attempt the package will then be held at their local office for your collection. It is your responsibility to arrange collection of this package after this last failed attempt. To arrange another delivery would incur a further delivery charge, please email us at via our contact form for a quote.

The consignment will be held at your local office for 4 days from the last failed attempt. If the package is not picked up within this timescale then it will be returned to us. As there is a charge for this we will pass this charge on to you. When we receive the consignment back we will either charge you for redelivery which would also include the return delivery charge or we will issue a refund minus any delivery costs incurred.

Once the delivery process has started we regret that it is not possible to change the delivery address nor to cancel the order. If no-one will be at the delivery address to receive the package and no one is available to collect from the depot, we can arrange for the consignment to be delivered to a different address. This means booking a new job with the courier and will incur a further delivery charge. Please email us via our contact form for a quote.

During the checkout procedure there is an option to leave instructions with the consignment. We endeavour to include this instruction with every consignment but sometimes this is not possible. If you include special instructions such as "leave safe", "leave in porch", "leave with neighbour", etc we accept this as written agreement that you accept responsibility for the consignment. The courier will leave a card to confirm they have followed your instruction. If the consignment is stolen, lost or damaged after this point we hold no responsibility.

When you receive your consignment we recommend you check the contents with the driver. If you are unable to do this you must write "unchecked" next to your signature. If this procedure has not been followed then shortages or damages will only be honoured at our discretion. If the package appears to have been damaged or tampered with then please either reject the consignment or write damaged against your signature.

If a consignment is delayed, damaged, lost or incorrect then we will do our utmost to rectify this situation as quickly as possible. We shall have no liability to you for any failure to deliver goods you have ordered, or any delay in doing so or for any damage or defect to goods delivered that is caused by any event or circumstance beyond our reasonable control including, without limitation, strikes, lock-outs and other industrial disputes, breakdown of systems or network access, flood, fire, explosion or accident.

We reserve the right to change the delivery service from that which you have chosen. We shall only do this in exceptional circumstances and will only change for a like for like service. If your order is bulky or mainly very heavy products, we may from time to time dispatch your order using a next day pallet service. By placing an order for very heavy or bulky products you agree to accept deliveries via this method.

We reserve the right to ship Standard parcels via a different service for reasons of cost, service or availability.
  • "Economy" is a non-tracked service usually delivered via Royal Mail Second Class small parcels. This normally takes 3+ working days (Mon-Sat). We reserve the right to ship Economy parcels via a different service for reasons of cost, service or availability.

Cancelling An Order

Under the EC Distance Selling Directive you have the right to cancel the contract for your purchase. You have 7 days to do this from the day after your order arrived. You do not need to give us a reason for canceling this contract, nor will you have to pay any penalty. You cannot cancel your contract if the goods you have ordered are audio or video recording or computer software, and you have taken these items out of the sealed packages in which they were delivered to you.

If you would like to cancel a contract, please write "Cancel Contract" across your invoice. Package up the order securely and send them back to us at the address below along with your invoice. Please notify us using our contact form.

It is your responsibility to ensure the goods are returned back to us in the exact condition they arrived. We recommend you use a recorded delivery service and you will be responsible for the costs of returning the goods unless we delivered them in error. When we receive the goods with the notice of cancellation we will refund the relevant part of the purchase price for that item.

Once we have been notified of your cancellation in writing any sum paid to us will be re-credited to your account as soon as possible and in any event within 30 days of your order. This is provided the goods in question are returned by you and received by us in the condition they were sent in. If you do not return the goods delivered to you, or do not pay the costs of delivery, we shall be entitled to deduct the direct costs of recovering the goods from the amount to be re-credited to you.

If you are returning your whole order, any delivery charges will be deducted from the refunded amount.

Returns

If you would like to return a product please email us via our contact form to let us know what you are returning and why. We will reply with an RMA form which needs to be completed with every return.

Please note we are not responsible for the postage cost to return the item unless we sent the item in error. We recommend you use a recorded service to return the faulty item. We are only responsible for the item when it has arrived at the warehouse. Please make sure that you wrap the item in appropriate packaging. Poorly packaged items will be refused.

All items must be returned in their original packing and must include a copy of the original receipt. Returns will be inspected for damage or any unofficial modifications which would invalidate the warranty. We will also check all serial numbers against our records. The returned item will be fully tested and a replacement issued if a fault is found. If the faulty item is repairable, the replacement will be the originally returned item. If the item is beyond repair then a new replacement will be issued. If no fault is found then we reserve the right to charge a handling fee and you will be liable for the return postage. Goods will not be dispatched until the handling charge and/or postage is paid.

If you have ordered the wrong item or quantity, we are more than happy to accept the item back as long as it has not been opened or used. We will not charge a restocking fee for this, but you are liable to return the item(s) back to us. Upon receipt we will issue a refund minus the initial delivery charge.

In all instances a replacement will not be issued until the original item is returned.

If you are returning an order for a full refund, any delivery charges will be deducted from the refunded amount.

We offer a variety of payment methods for your convenience. We accept all major credit and debit cards such as Switch, Visa Credit, Visa Debit, Solo, Electron, Mastercard, Maestro, etc. We also accept payments by Paypal and Nochex.
Is it safe to make payments through your website?
All credit and debit card payments are handled securely by Sage Pay (formerly Protx). This is done through their secure server. We never see your full credit or debit card number. Paypal and Nochex payments are processed through their respective secure servers. In all instances please check for the secure padlock on the bottom right of the screen and the ‘https’ in the address bar to show a secure connection.
Can I make a telephone order?
Unfortunately all orders must be placed through the website. We do not have the means to take payment over the telephone as all payments are handled securely by Sage Pay.
What delivery services do you use?
We use a variety of couriers for your convenience and to offer a fast, efficient service.
For deliveries within the UK, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland, we generally use DPD for the courier service and the Royal Mail's small parcel service for "Standard" and "Economy" shipping. However, we reserve the right to use other couriers and delivery services to fulfil the requested delivery option.
For very heavy or bulky orders we may use a Next Day Pallet service.
For all other European destinations, we normally use DPD and its European partners for our courier service and the Royal Mail's European small parcel service for "Royal Mail Europe" delivery.
For full details of the shipping services offered, see our shipping services page.
Can I collect my order?
Goods can be collected in person from either our Dundee or St Andrews retail branches, provided that the items are in stock at that store. You will be informed of this on the product page and at the checkout.
What are your shipping charges?
The website knows the weight of your order and will offer the most relevant shipping options to give you the best value for money. Shipping starts from £2.08 plus VAT for "Economy" delivery up to 100g. Most people would expect to pay £4.75 plus VAT for next day courier. For this you would expect roughly 250 discs.
Is it safe to give you my personal details?
We only collect information which is relevant to your order. We will only ever use this information in relation to the most current order you have placed with us. We take data security very seriously and will never disclose your information to a third party unless we receive a court order forcing us to do so. We will never disclose your email address to any third party and if you have signed up for our mailing list we will only use this in relation to our newsletters.

Will the cheapest media work with my drive?
In most instances cheap media will work with your DVD writer, but unfortunately we can’t guarantee compatibility. Cheap media tends to be less reliable whereby some discs from a pack may work and some won’t. If you are looking for a reliable disc then we recommend paying extra and going for good quality, branded media. Discs using the Ritek formulation tend to be reliable also.
