There are generally two things to consider when buying batteries. One is the size/shape of the battery (e.g. AA, AAA, C, D, etc.) and the other is the technology that powers the battery.
Most devices only accept one size of battery anyway, so though it’s important to get the right size, it’s not normally something you have to give a lot of thought to. Even so, there’s still the choice of what sort of battery you should buy, and that’s what we’ll explain here.

Technological progress in the computer world is pretty amazing, but perhaps we’re not all as amazed as we should be?
Part of the problem is that we can’t “see” the changes- we don’t see how many more transistors are in a modern processor (and how much smaller they are) than there are in ones made ten or twenty years ago. And talking about megabytes, gigabytes and terabytes, we forget that each one is a thousand time larger than what went before.
So let’s try and illustrate it…

(This answer also covers “why unfinalised DVD doesn’t play on my DVD player”)
When you write to a DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW or other type of writable DVD without finalizing it, the directory information is written to a temporary area after the most recent recorded session. Players that can read unfinalized DVDs look at these areas in reverse order to get the most recent directory information.

As mentioned in part 1 of our series on laser and LED printers and toner cartridges, toner is the powdery substance that is used to build up the image on laser printers. It comes in large cartridges, which either contain the toner on its own, or combine the toner reservoir with a disposable print drum. (Having the drum and cartridge together does mean that you get a new, high-quality drum each time, but it also increases the price.)
Toner cartridges (including laser toner, LED toner, photocopier toner and laser fax toner cartridges) do cost significantly more than most inkjet cartridges, but they also last much longer, generally in the thousands or even tens of thousands of pages, rather than the low hundreds.
When it comes to replacing your toner cartridge, you have four options as follows.

We sell a lot of laser printer toner cartridges, and we get a fair number of questions on the subject. To understand them better, it helps to understand how laser printers (and their close relative, LED printers) work.
While toner serves a similar purpose to the ink in cartridges for inkjet printers (AKA “bubblejet”)- making marks on the paper- the way it does this is quite different. Read on to find out more- don’t worry, we’ll keep it short!
