Dual Layer discs can hold almost twice as much as single layer versions (8.4GB instead of 4.7). Although they used to be very expensive, they've fallen drastically in price in the last year or so, and are now close to single layer in cost-per-byte.

These are DVD+R DL discs which are compatible with most burners built since the start of 2005. (The newer DVD-R DL format is supported by fewer drives, so if in doubt go for DVD+R DL!)
