R285 Ink system
by Paul Hindley, 27 Oct 2009
This is a great system except for one small issue-the reset button on the cartridges is very fragile (poorly positioned in my opinion) if you press it too hard the whole thing will snap off and the system is useless. I know - I did it! and I had to buy another complete system. Otherwise it's a marvelous system.
Continuous Ink System

It is many months now since I bought the system for my Epson Photo R265. It has been absolutely fantastic and faultless throughout. Easy to install and as yet I haven't had to top-up the inks. Colours are superb.
Chips do NOT reset automatically
by Stevvie, 11 May 2009
The complete set of 6 inks seem to have to be removed EVERY time ONE cartridge becomes empty. These chips are supposed to reset when the printer is turned off then on but they do NOT and have to be removed and then re inserted every time they show empty.
*** Disk Depot Technical note***
With some printers, this is the only way to reset them. This is because the manufacturers of the printer are trying to stop third party devices being used. With most printers switching it on an off is enough, but in some cases removing the cartridges (like you do when you're changing cartridges anyway) is what's needed.
chip resett

i have a ciss for my epson and thought i'd let the ink tanks go down low so that i could make sure that the reset works ok dont try this make sure your tanks dont go down to low mine didnt reset
***Technical note***
If you remove the cartridges from the printer for an hour, this usually resets the ink levels.
CISS on Epson R285
by Stevvie, 30 Mar 2009
Brought one of these for my R285. I wasn't expecting the print quality to rival the Epson original cartridges but the almost do. MUCH better quality than i was expecting. I'm a bit fussy and wasn't expecting the quality to be anywhere near the original Epson inks but they were. I'm yet to reset the chips/inks.
CISS Ink unit for Epson Photo R265
by Derrick Orton, 12 Dec 2008
This unit installed extremely easily and worked immediately. I then printed off 7 A5 small colour magazines each with 36 pages. No problem and the ink flowed 1st time. Colours are excellent. Thanks for a brilliant product. Derrick

Just a minor problem
by Dave K Energise Records Ltd, 31 Oct 2008
What great value , i just puchased mine and was easily installed and running smoothly, however as i have just completed over 500 prints with the new system i am finding the ink cart levels are dropping will i be able to reset the chips when they become empty even though the system is still full of ink??
**Disk Depot technical note**
Depending on which version of the CISS system you have, you can reset the ink levels on the status monitor be either pressing the white reset button on the cartridges, switching the printer on and off, or by going through the process of changing the ink cartridges.
It is always best to do this BEFORE the ink levels run out.
Epson R265 /R285 Continuous Ink System
by Chris Holt, 14 Oct 2008
I have been running two of these systems on our two printers at school on our A Level photography course. They get very heavy use and so far they have been no problem. I am now into my second bottles of 100ml ink and already have saved £'s in replacement cartridges. Ink quality appears to be as good as Epson's own.
Continuous Ink Supply Systems

What a wonderful system. I used to use a HP and it cost me nearly £60 to replace my 2 cartridges at regular intervals. I now have an Epson R265 Photo with this CCIS system and after more than 1 year of printing wonderful A4 size photos I have yet to refill any of the original ink containers. £25 buys a set of 6 250ml replacement bottles which will again last for years. I can never see me ever going back to normal cartridges again whether they be Epson originals or someone elses. I have asked Epson several times why they don't sell bottles of ink for these systems but never get any response. I go to the far east for at least 4 months every year and everywhere you go you see these sytems in use and on sale.
