TDK is a company with a long history- they were founded in Japan during the 1930s, but rose to prominence during the 1970s with their high-quality audio cassette tapes. Their video cassette range was also well-known for its quality during the 1980s, and during the 1990s TDK successfully moved into the digital age.

Did you know that it was TDK who developed the special coating that lets Blu-Ray discs be used without a separate cartridge? Without this coating, scratches on the surface would easily stop the laser reading the ultra-fine data pits on the high-capacity disc.

TDK's consumer and small office products are now manufactured and sold under license by Imation, a spin-off of the famous 3M company, and these discs continue that reputation for high quality.
